OREANDA-NEWS. Under certain conditions Russia is ready to set up joint ventures with foreign partners in the sphere of nuclear machinery construction, reported the press-centre of Rosatom.

Russian nuclear machinery builders are ready to cooperate with foreign partners but on condition that the controlling interest is ours, the production is ours and the market is also ours. In such a case foreign companies will not be able to independently supply equipment to Russian and foreign nuclear power plants, First Vice Premier of Russia Sergey Ivanov said during a press-conference in Podolsk on Oct 15.

One of the best examples of mutually beneficial cooperation is the Russian-French Alstom-Atomenergomash JV – the first low speed turbine producer in Russia.

Ivanov noted that Russian air craft and ship builders cooperate with foreign partners on a bit different terms than nuclear machinery builder do. “In air craft and ship construction there is a different form – it is not cooperation but an open joint stock company allowing participation of private and foreign capital,” Ivanov said.

He said that today the Government gives priority to high-tech industries: nuclear power engineering, space, nano-technologies, air craft and ship building. “In these sectors we still have technologies, personnel, know-how and leading positions on the world market,” Ivanov said. He said that one more reason why the Government is actively financing these industries is that in the last decade private capital has not gained leading role there.
