Ukraine Does Not Intend to Reevaluate Annual GDP Growth
OREANDA-NEWS. The annual GDP growth indicators will not be reconsidered, Economics Minister Anatoliy Kinakh stated, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.
According to him, the ministry expects the GDP to grow by a total of 7,2-7,3 percent over nine months, which mirrors the ministry's forecasts. Thus the 6,5 percent annual growth estimates will be met and the indicators will not be reevaluated.
On October 12 First Vice Premier, Finance Minister Mykola Azarov stated that the macroeconomic indicators for 2008 laid down in the draft budget for the next year will be reconsidered in view of the economic performance and returns to the budget over the nine months of 2007.
On October 11, the president sent a letter to the prime minister requesting to take into consideration his proposals when drafting the 2008 budget. According to the head of state, the government has proceeded from underestimated macroeconomic indicators and social payment standards when drafting the budget for the next year.
According to the government's draft budget, the nominal GDP is expected to reach UAH 810 bn, while the president's Secretariat forecasts the GDP at the minimum UAH 860 bn.
