Leningrad NPP Completes Preparations for Heating Season 2007–2008
OREANDA-NEWS. On October 08, 2007 Leningrad NPP restarted its 2nd unit. Turbine generator 4 was switched on on Oct 8, turbine generator 3 – today, on Oct 9, reported the press-centre of Leningrad NPP.
To remind, unit 2 was stopped on Aug 2 2007 for an overhaul.
Presently, Leningrad NPP has three units in service. For the moment, their total capacity is 2650 MW but in the next 24 hours it is to be raised to 2720 MW.
The head of the Information Department of Leningrad NPP Sergey Averyanov says that the plant is ready for the coming heating season and this winter the residents of St.Petersburg and Leningrad region will have no problems with heating.
Unit 3 is being overhauled under the modernization and service life extension program. The repair is to be finished in Apr-May 2008.

Since Apr 1 2002 Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant has been branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Russian State Concern for the Production of Electric and Thermal Power at Nuclear Power Plants” (“Rosenergoatom” Concern). The plant operates 4 units with RBMK reactors 1000 MW each.
The plant has four units with 1000 MW RBMK reactors.
In 2006 LNPP produced 23,178bln KWh against planned 21,330bln KWh. 21,198bln KWh were supplied to the energy system of Russia.
