10 Nuclear Companies Awarded Prizes at Specialized Exhibition
OREANDA-NEWS. October 08, 2007. 8th specialized exhibition “Products and Technologies of Double Purpose: Diversification of Military Industrial Complex” was conducted in Moscow on Oct 2–5 2007, reported the press-centre of Atomexpo.
The exhibition was organized with the support of Rosatom. The activities for developing double-purpose technologies are aimed at creating competitive high-tech products and services of civil purpose. The objective of the exhibition was to show the potential of Russia’s military industry and science in solving the country’s urgent social-economic and energy security problems.
Preference was given to finished products and technologies. Over 100 companies, organizations and research centers from Russia and the CIS took part in the exhibition, among them 10 industrial companies and research centers of the nuclear industry: Siberian Chemical Group, Start PA, Mining Chemical Combine, All-Russian Research Institute of Non-Organic Materials, Research Institute of Measuring Systems, Research Institute of Pulse Engineering, ARRICT, VNIIAES, Institute for Physical-Technical Problems (Dubna).
The nuclear companies took an active part in the conference “Target Fundamental Research: Federal Target Programs – Science-Intensive Production,” seminars, roundtables, presentations as well as in the special contests “Best Import-Substituting Product” and “Best Solution in the Field of Double Purpose Technologies.” The contests revealed lots of interesting innovative solutions and received wide response from potential consumers and investors.
Seven nuclear companies received medals in the contest “Best Solution in the Field of Double Purpose Technologies.”
Siberian Chemical Group received two medals. The first medal was granted for a system of continuous beta monitoring of water environment. The system can be used for continuous express water monitoring at nuclear power plants and water supply stations situated near radioactive facilities and for control of waste water release into lakes and rivers situated near such facilities.
The second medal was for a self-sustaining chain reaction alarm system. The system detects and signals a self-sustaining chain reaction for the personnel to be timely evacuated to a safe area. One such system consists of 20 sensors and covers an area of 10,000 sq m. The system was first applied in 1996.
Start PA also got two medals: highly efficient pressure indicators and medicines for chronic diseases based on micro-resonance therapy.
Research Institute of Pulse Engineering received medal for a data conversion and multi-channel process control system.
Research Institute of Measuring Systems got medal for a level gauge – super-sonic sensor for continuous and con-contact automated liquid level control (including highly-active liquids). The gauge can also be used for controlling the work of industrial systems in areas with high content of inflammable gases and steams. The system can be used for water treatment at nuclear power plants, chemical companies, oil refineries and other manufacturing enterprises.
Many of the products of the All-Russian Research Institute of Non-Organic Materials have no analogues in Russia and abroad. One of them – technology for production of multi-component nano-materials – was awarded a medal. The system is designed for enhancing the efficiency and prolonging the service life of components of mechanisms and machinery.
The Design Bureau of Motor Transport Equipment received a medal for special containers for nuclear materials, the Institute for Physical and Technical Problems – for radio-isotope fire alarm system for nuclear reactors, mines and other high-risk facilities.
Atomexpo received a medal for organizing a nuclear power exhibition.
VNIIAES and ARRICT were granted certificates for, respectively, mathematical personnel training models and liquid radioactive waste treatment technology.
8th specialized exhibition “Products and Technologies of Double Purpose: Diversification of Military Industrial Complex” was an excellent opportunity for military companies to push their products into civil markets. The exhibition has shown that our military industrial complex, particularly, nuclear companies, can make modern and high-quality products and services for different consumers.
