France Is Interested in Cooperation with Russia in Nuclear Industry
OREANDA-NEWS. Moscow and Paris should be friends in order to preserve stability in the world, President of France Nicolas Sarkozy said while giving a lecture at Bauman University (Moscow), reported the press-centre of Rosatom.
He said that France would like to more actively cooperate with Russia in space and nuclear industries as well as in aircraft construction and transport. The French and the Russians respect each other. Sarkozy expressed hope that the youths of both countries would do something to make the world better and less banal. He said that the new world order must not be based on violence. Each person is responsible for the future of the world. Joint work is not a choice but a duty. Nobody can hope to live alone. “If you want to develop Russia, do it by opening it for other people. Russia and Europe are interested in good relations. On behalf of Europe, I would like to say that, when Russia and Europe oppose each other, they both get weaker. Europe needs Russia as much as Russia needs Europe,” Sarkozy said. “Russia wants others to respect it for what it is. Russia is a great nation, great power, great civilization. You have suffered a lot. Europe does not need weak Russia. The whole world is watching you and is delighted with what you are doing. When something is wrong, you must try to improve the situation,” Sarkozy said. He urged the Russian youth to build democratic and stable society.
Sarkozy expressed hope that Russia and France will become strategic partners in energy sector and aircraft construction. “I hope that we will not be rivals any more. I hope that we will become strategic partners in energy and aircraft construction.”
Sarkozy said that Superjet-1000 plane is a big achievement of the Russian industry and France is ready to cooperate with Russia on other projects too. “Why can’t we be partners in the nuclear industry. I think we can develop new generations of nuclear plants. For this purpose, we should intensify exchange of experience between students and scientists,” Sarkozy said.
