640 Tons of Uranium to Be Mined in Trans-Ural Region in 2010
OREANDA-NEWS. On October 09, 2007 representatives of Uralnedr, administration of Kurgan region, Rosprirodnadzor, geologists and miners discussed uranium mining prospects in Trans-Ural, reported the press-centre of Minatom.
The western part of the region has already been prospected. Presently, experts are developing a deposit in Dalmat, prospecting deposits in Shumikhino and are planning to prospect Zverinogolvsk district.
The prospected reserves of Dalmat are estimated at over 10,000 tons of uranium. This area has three deposits: Dalmat, Khokhlovo and Dobrovolskoye, with total estimated reserves of 30,000–35,000 tons.
The Trans-Ural deposits are developed by Dalur (TVEL Corporation), the first Russian company to have applied the method of underground leaching.
In 2006 Dalur launched a number of industrial and energy capacities and mined 262 tons of uranium. By 2010 the company is planning to redouble its output and to mine as much as 640 tons.
