TVZ Launches a New Series Passenger Coach Production
OREANDA-NEWS. October 9, 2007. The two models of the future series designated 61-4440 (sleeping) and 61-4447 (open-plan) are undergoing certificate tests. In 2008, the TVZ will also productionize SV-class and staff rail cars.
The new car bodies will be predominantly made of corrosion-resistant steels providing the service life extension to 40 years (unlike 20 years for modern cars). The cars are 500 mm longer for better passengers' comfort and trainmen working conditions. The cars will be fitted with a trainmen equipment compartment.
The car bodies will need no repair for an overhaul thanks to corrosion-resistant steels, cutting the labour-intensity and costs.
The cars will have flat-ruffled bodies for the first time in Russia: there are four 12 mm high ruffled plates. The casing has advantages of both flat (aesthetics, easy washing and painting) and ruffled (better load scheme, structure rigidness) kinds.
The new series has been given a test set of front and side doors making the cars suitable for operating temperatures between -50 and +50. The doors have better sealing, the jamming gauges are more delicate, the driving units have advanced and reliable electric motors.
The internal casing is made of thermally shaped plastic for better surface quality. A wide range of colours and textures are available. The sleeping coaches and SV-class coaches will be fitted with up-to-date berths that can be transformed into club sofas. The distance between berths is now larger.
The new coaches are fitted with environmentally friendly water-vacuum toilets. In accordance with customer's demand the coaches can be fitted with audio and video, and air antisepsis systems.
The new series has a framework platform for faster development, certification, and productionizing of new derivatives satisfying the customer demand. There is an open-plan coach model without side berths (three berths on one wall) considered for the Russian railways.
The new framework platform will be further used for new permanent structure trains, that is MUs with centralized electricity supply (undercar generators will be replaced by a high-voltage bus-bar and static converters), rigid couplers and pressurized gangways with a closed shell.
