OREANDA-NEWS. Head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko is sure that the bill on the establishment of Rosatom state corporation will be adopted by the end of the autumn parliamentary session

He presented the bill to the members of United Russia parliamentary group.

Kiriyenko said that the bill was submitted to the State Duma on Oct 2 and is to be considered on Oct 11. “We expect that the bill will be adopted by Dec 2007.”

Earlier, the speaker of State Duma Boris Gryzlov said that the bill would be adopted by the end of the autumn session.

The concept of state corporation for nuclear energy was first mentioned by President Putin in his last annual address to the Federal Assembly. Putin suggested uniting the civil and military sectors of Russia’s nuclear industry into one “special corporation.” The corporation is supposed to serve the national interests in the sphere of defense. It will replace the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy.

The corporation will comprise Atomenergoprom holding, nuclear weapons complex, fundamental science institutes, nuclear and radiation safety agencies.

Gryzlov believes that the corporation will help Russia to enhance the efficiency of its state policy in the field of nuclear energy.
