Container throughput of First Container Terminal up 8.4% in Jan-Sep 07
OREANDA-NEWS. October 4, 2007. In January-September 2007, container throughput of First Container Terminal (St. Petersburg) grew by 8.4%, year-on-year, to 697,700 TEU. In September, the terminal handled 80,357 TEU, or 46,633 units (+7%, year-on-year). FCT turnover of refrigerated containers totaled 7,640 TEU (-17%, year-on-year). Export amounted to 40,954 TEU, import – 39,403 TEU. In September, the terminal handled 62 vessels, with average turnover of 1,296 TEU per vessel.
National Container Company (NCC) is the leading Russian operator of container terminals. It holds leading position at the market of stevedoring services. NCC is owned in equal shares by First Quantum and FESCO transport group (FESCO’s control stock is owned by Industrial Investors Group). NCC assets include First Container Terminal (port of St. Petersburg), Novorossiysk Container Terminal (NUTEP, port of Novorossiysk), Iljichevsk container terminal (Ukraine), Baltic Container Terminal in Ust-Luga (Leningrad region) and a land-based logistics center and container terminal Shushary (Leningrad region) with a design capacity of up to 400 thou TEU per year at the territory of 92 hectares.
