OREANDA-NEWS. October 4, 2007. Oil and Gas Extraction Department (OGED) named after Nariman Narimanov is one of the leading ventures in gas production. The venture produces 2 million cubic meters of gas daily. In other words, the department satisfies more than half of the demand for gas in the capital city. According to the information acquired from “Azariqaz” joint- stock company, the residents of Baku and suburbs consume 2,5 million cubic meters of gas ever day. According to the gas program of SOCAR, OGED will increase gas production during 2008 and 2010 years. This growth will be achieved by drilling 13 new wells. Five of the wells will be drilled at “8 Mart” oil deposit. The depth of 3 wells will be 5800 meter. According to the estimation of geologists, the daily gas flow rate of each well constitutes 400 thousand cubic meters. There will be some gas-condensate wells drilled at “Sangachal-Duvani-daniz-Khara-Zira” block, and some will be drilled at “Alat-daniz” oil deposit. Drilling work will be carried out by “Azari Drilling” joint venture. Currently, the venture is drilling the well № 759 at “8 Mart” oil deposit. The depth of the well was projected to be 5800 meters of which 4800 meters has already been drilled. The well will be opened for the exploitation by the end of this year.
