II International Nuclear Forum Starts in St. Petersburg
OREANDA-NEWS. October 2, 2007. A spokesman for the organizational committee said that the forum will be attended by Andrei Malyshev, deputy head of the Federal Atomic Energy Agency (Rosatom); Alexander Agapov, head of Rosatom’s Nuclear and Radiation Safety and Licensing Department; Igor Konyshev, an advisor to the head of Rosatom, and other officials.
The forum programme will include plenary and section meetings, panel discussions and poster presentations. The meetings will be held in the State Regional Education Centre. Time for paper presentations at the plenary and section meeting is 20 min. Working languages of the conference are Russian and English, simultaneous translation will be available. Participants presenting papers will have an opportunity to demonstrate transparent slides of A4 format, to use computers and projecting equipment.
The forum will include a conference on nuclear security, nuclear technology management -radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel — and nuclear safeguards.
It will also feature a number of roundtables on the following topics: nuclear safety regulations, nuclear and radiation security and public opinion, training and personnel policy, and international cooperation in handling nuclear waste and spent nuclear fuel.
A 'Russian Industrialist’ exhibition on the forum’s sidelines will showcase the latest technology and equipment with a special focus on the safe transportation of nuclear materials, decommissioning of nuclear reactors, and the operation of industrial nuclear plants.
The forum will last through October 5.
