Uralkali Sold 8000 Tons of Potash Fertilizers
OREANDA-NEWS. October 1, 2007. The products of Uralkali (Berezniki, Perm Territory) were auctioned for the first time on the Saint-Petersburg Universal Trade Stock Exchange "Umex". The results of the action have proved there is a stable demand for the products of the company. 8000 tons of Pink MOP were sold for 3620 rubles per ton, which included the entire volume of the Uralkali consignment released for the auction.
The auctions of Uralkali products in 2007 have taken place on a regular basis. During April-September 2007 there have been 5 auctions on the Moscow Stock Exchange (MSE) and the Umex auction has become the sixth auction in Uralkali's history. Since the beginning of the auctions in 2007, Uralkali has sold altogether 34500 tons of potash fertilizers for a total price of more than 124 mln. rubles.
Vladislav Baumgertner, President, Director General of Uralkali:
Owing to the fact that the Umex auctions were in the form of a double auction we have enlarged the use of sales mechanisms of our products through the auctions. We consider the auctions to be the most effective and fair pricing instrument. We are pleased with the demand during the Umex auction and with the final price that exceeds the price level for our current contracts with the majority of Russian consumers. In future, we plan to use the auction mechanism actively in order to satisfy the demand of the growing Russian market.
