OREANDA-NEWS. 4 million roubles are to be invested into the Orel region power industry, according to the Orel Region Collegiate Body, "FGC of UES" JSC,  IRGC of Centre  JSC and Orelenergo JSC, which signed an agreement to provide reliable power supply for the regional customers, the MRSK company, an energy distributor, informs.

The agreement  stipulates the realization of the investment programme for the period till 2011. The total investment amounts to 3.7 billion roubles, including 2.9 billion for the development of the Power Grids of Orelenergo JSC, and 730 million roubles towards prevention of capacity shortages at the  "FGC of UES" JSC units.

A major technical re-equipment of the 220 kW Orel-region substation is being planned within the mainstream grid complex. 295 km of 0.4-10 kW power lines and nine in total 99 km long 35-110 kW lines will be constructed at the Orelenergo JSC distribution grids. Two new 110/10 kW substation are to be constructed in the Nothern region and along the Orel-Naugor highway, and 7 main regional substations are to be expanded.

Apart from the new construction works, the programme includes the technical re-equipment, reconstruction and modernization of the Orelenergo JSC grid units. Sergey Zorin, Deputy General Director of JSC Orelenergo, said thatsuch an amount would be invested into the local power Industry for the first time over last 15 years. A new strategy for the power industry development has become necessary as a result of an increasing rate of  the region's development, with energy consumption growing accordingly, particularly, in new residential areas with kindergartens, schools and hospitals, large industrial and agricultural enterprises, which need new capacities.The opening of Customer Care Centres at the JSC Orelenergo, is also stipulated by the agreement.
