OREANDA-NEWS. September 25, 2007. One of two pickling devices at the cold rolling mill was stopped for capital repairs on September 10th, at 7a.m. A big work content is envisaged. As Serguey Shinkarenko, deputy chief in charge of mechanical facilities said already under way are repairs of the transporter, butts and the base of the turn-over machine, the broken plate of the breaking device is being replaced as well as the base of the turn-over machine.

At the moment the obsolete coffer-dam of the looping pit is being dismounted. The new one, manufactured by means of the Department of the Chief-mechanical man has already been delivered to the mill. The technological part is also being reconstructed- butts of the pickling baths of cascade pickling are being replaced.

“Such repairs were made at the department 11 years ago, while the coffer-dam has not been replaced for 24 years”- Serguey Ivanovich said-In general it is required to stop the machine every five years, but we managed to make its service life longer”.

Nearly 200 persons participate in the repairs. No5 shop of repairs of iron and steel facilities carry out the works with the foundation, the repairs of the turn-over and breaking machines are carried out by No 4 shop of repairs of iron and steel facilities and the shop of repairs of furnace equipment, while personnel from the repair shop of sintering and blast-furnace equipment and the shop of repairs of buildings and constructions provides the technological work.

“The capital repairs are planned to last for 10 days and we are not lagging behind the schedule”-said .Andrey Palchikov, the shop’s chief-Beside the restoration of the device we also plan to reconstruct the building of the pickling department, particularly to replace the floor slabs there. For that purpose we are now installing a special hoisting crane, with the capacity of 1,000mt. Besides we make repairs of the workers cabins at the sections” So, the shop is being equipped with up-to-date services, but still there’s much to be done.
