Throughput of Krasnodar Region Seaports Down 1.5%

September 24, 2007.In January-August 2007, throughput of Krasnodar region seaports fell by 1.5%, year-on-year, to 97.1 million tonnes, regional transport department reports according to Yuga.Ru. "Throughput of the port of Novorossiysk has almost not changed, while that of the port of Eisk grew by 31%, Kavkaz – increased by 20%, Tuapse – fell by 6.5%. Off-harbor transshipment at the port of Kavkaz was not carried out in the reported period," representative of the press center reports.
Within the Kuban territory there are eight seaports open for international communications. Seaports of Novorossiysk and Tuapse perform transshipment of 100 million tonnes of foreign trade and transit cargo of Russia accounting for one third of Russia’s oil export.
Such developing ports as Kavkaz, Temryuk and Eisk handle vessels of up to 5,000 tonnes in capacity. The ports of Sochi, Anapa and Gelendjik are located within resort area and perform passenger transportation.
