OREANDA-NEWS. Mobile TeleSystems OJSC ( MTS  - NYSE: MBT), the largest mobile phone operator in Russia and the CIS, announced that its consolidated subscriber base on August 31, 2007 reached 76.06 million users.

As reported by the company, during August 2007 only, MTS' consolidated subscriber base increased by 1.07 million subscribers and as of August 31 amounts to 53.67 mln in Russia, 12.41 mln in Moscow and the Moscow region, 2.68 mln in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, 19.94 mln in Ukraine, 2.18 mln in Uzbekistan, 0.27 mln in Turkmenistan and 3.81 mln in Belarus (MTS owns a 49% stake in Mobile TeleSystems LLC, a mobile operator in Belarus, which is not consolidated).
