OREANDA-NEWS. Industrial waste treatment plants of Ilim Group's Bratsk subsidiary have completed assemblage of a new Polipor aeration system at the first aerotank of biological treatment plant #2, the Ilim Group press service reports. The project's total cost is 3.78 mln roubles. The aerotank was put into operation on September, 10.

The main purpose of installing Polipor is to improve the environmental situation in Vikhoreva river. The unique construction of the system enables it to enhance the oxygenation process and allows to advance the quality of waste treatment. After the new system is put into operation, the efficiency of waste treatment will go up to 80%, according to experts. The previous waste treatment system had worked for more than 30 years.

The new system is far more accomplished technologically, it uses polyethylene, which practically does not corrode. The construction of the new system allows to oxygenate waste waters with fine oxygen bubbles, which are better appropriated by activated sludge, an important component in thewaste water treatment.

The Polipor system, manufactured by Etek, had been installed at the first and second biological treatment systems from 2001 in several stages. The second biological treatment system has now new systems installed in the all of its aerotanks. A total of 9 systems have been installed by now.
