OREANDA-NEWS. September 17, 2007. Industrial waste treatment plants of Ilim Group’s Bratsk branch have completed assemblage of new Polipor aeration system on the first aerotank of biological treatment plant 2. The project’s total cost is 3.78 mln roubles. The aerotank was put into operation.

The main purpose of installing Polipor is to improve environmental situation in Vikhoreva river. The unique construction of the system enables it to enhance the oxygenation process and allows to advance the quality of waste treatment. After the new system is put into operation, the efficiency of waste treatment will go up to 80%, experts say. The previous waste treatment system worked for more than 30 years.

The new system is far more accomplished technologically, it uses polyethylene, which practically does not corrode. The construction of the new system allows to oxygenate waste waters with fine oxygen bubbles, which are better appropriateв by activated sludge, an important component in waster water treatment.

Polipor system, manufactured by Etek, was installed at the first and second biological treatment systems from 2001 in several stages. The second biological treatment system has now new systems installed in all its aerotanks. A total of 9 systems have been installed by now.
