Tetra Pak Opens ?100 Million Plant in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. On September 7, 2007, Tetra Pak, one of the world`s leading processing and packaging solutions providers for food manufacturing, launched its new converting plant in Russia. This plant, located in the town of Lobnya (Moscow region), will become the largest in Russia and Eastern Europe to produce packaging material for liquid food products.
According to the data which the company's press-service had provided, with a planned capacity of four billion packages per year, this new facility will be a strategic addition to Tetra Pak's existing capacity. It accommodates state-of-the-art production facilities, offices and a warehouse that are all equipped and run in an environmentally friendly way. The investment exceeds ?100 million, the company’s largest investment in Russia to date.
Igor Akimov, President of Tetra Pak Russia, said: “The launch of the new plant demonstrates our commitment to helping customers grow their dairy and beverage industry with our unique offering of integrated processing and packaging systems for liquid food products. The decision to invest in new production facilities is based on the dynamic growth of the Russian dairy and JNSD market.”
Employing world class manufacturing processes, the new plant will feature the most advanced technologies and equipment. In total, 75% of factory capacity will produce aseptic packaging to meet Russia's growing demand for long-life products. The UHT-milk market is particularly buoyant and grew by 16% in 2006 - twice as fast as the whole market of packed milk. Tetra Pak experts believe this trend is set to continue.
