OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2007. For the first time such events took place in 2006 at Smolensk NPP in the framework of the Rosenergoatom sports and athletics meeting. This year Smolensk NPP hosted combined sports events again: sportsmen from Balakovo, Kalinin, Kursk and Novoronezh NPPs had come to take part in them.

The opening ceremony took place on Sept 7. The advisor of the director general of Rosenergoatom O.Zheltov welcomed the contenders: “I am happy to be here again for these wonderful events. I would like to wish you victory. May the strongest and the worthiest win! I hope that next year we will have even more contenders.”

The advisor of the director of Smolensk NPP M.Stepanov stressed the importance of such events for the employees of the Rosenergoatom NPPs. “This is a good opportunity for us to meet and make friends.” The chairman of the Trade Union of Smolensk NPP Y.Kuznetsov wished the contenders victory and expressed hope that the events would be fair and interesting. “I wish you good luck – you need it!” In the end all the contenders were granted souvenirs.

The families contended in darts, swimming, roller skating, ping pong, relay race. Women contended in rhythmic dancing, while the men in weight lifting. The events were closed on Sept 9.
