Russian Railways Transports 15,4 mln Passengers between Russia and CIS
OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2007. In comparison with the same period in 2006, the number passengers the Company transported between Russia and the countries of the CIS and the Baltic increased by over 897,800 people or 6%, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.
Trains to the Ukraine enjoyed the greatest popularity among passengers, with more than 9.4 million passengers using Russian Railways in the first 7 months of 2007, 5% or 482,100 more than during the same period last year.
More than 2.6 million travelled between Belarus and Russia, 4% or 98,800 more than in the first 7 months of 2006, with over 1,2 million passengers going to Kazakhstan, up by 7% or 77,500 on last year.
