Kaspersky Lab Wins Linux World Fight Club
OREANDA-NEWS. On August 23, 2007 Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announced that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.5 for Linux File Server has won the LinuxWorld Fight Club. The product demonstrated the highest effectiveness of protection, detecting and disinfecting 97,1% of all malicious programs in public testing, reported the press-centre of Kaspersky Lab.
Combatants in the LinuxWorld Fight Club were put to the test by Untangle, a developer of IT security solutions for corporate networks. Ten popular software and hardware solutions were subjected to a collection of malicious programs most commonly encountered on the Internet and evaluated for their ability to protect corporate networks on the Linux platform, including Open Source solutions.
“Kaspersky Lab has been developing antivirus solutions for Linux since 1999 and we have accumulated a wealth of experience during this time. It comes as no surprise that our product has achieved the top score,” said Product Development Manager at Kaspersky Lab, Evgeny Vigovsky. “We offer Linux/FreeBSD-based solutions that protect all types of traffic from all types of Internet threats. The purpose of our Linux solutions is not so much to protect the Linux servers as to protect the traffic that is transferred via these servers to Windows users.”
