New Fish-Protecting System Is Put into Trial Operation
OREANDA-NEWS. August 24, 2007. Perm. Polycontact impulse fish-protecting system PIRS will provide for more effective conservation of bioresources of the basin of the Kama river.
The system is designed to protect fish from getting in the water intake of the station in Chaikovsky and will contribute to the conservation of bioresources. By means of a special block weak electric tension is discharged onto the electrodes sunk into the water, electric impulse of high frequency is discharged into the water. Fish treat impulse electric field as a danger signal and swim away from the place where water is offtaken from the river for the needs of CHPP. At the same time electric impulses as well as electrodes sunk into the water (even by physical contact) are safe for the fish.
Earlier the other fish protecting system - of bubble type - operated at Tchaikovsky CHPP-18, but Territorial Generating Company #9 took the resolution to have more effective impulse system set at CHPP-18. Specialists from Novosibirsk handled the installation and adjustment of the equipment “PIRS”.
