Russian Railways to Reduce Long-Distance Passenger Fares
OREANDA-NEWS. August 21, 2007. According to our flexible timetable, fares on all long-distance trains in Russia will be reduced by 22% between September 1 and 30, For example, in September a ticket in the sleeping compartment from Moscow to Yekaterinburg on branded train No. 16 will cost 3,300 roubles, while a reserved seat on train No. 248 to Anapa will cost 945 roubles. These prices are inclusive, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.
The flexible timetable system came into effect on January 1, 2003.
The year 2007 is divided into 18 uneven sections, during which different fares apply, allowing passengers to plan their trips and take into account the regular changes in fares.
The next fares reduction on long-distance passenger trains running will be on October 1, 2007.
