OREANDA-NEWS. August 21, 2007. A competition in firefighting-applied sports took place in the confidence training course of the firefighting unit No. 33 of the State Fire Service of the RF Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies and Disaster Relief. The competing teams were formed of the employees from several subdivisions of the Fuel branch of OAO Novosibirskenergo. This is the fourth time such competition is held to train the personnel’s skills and knowledge of various firefighting techniques with the use of emergency firefighting equipment, to improve the workers' preparedness for fire situations, and, in general, to improve fire tolerance of the electric power facilities.

The event started with the opening words of Valery Telegin, the Chief Engineer and the Deputy Director of the Fuel branch, who saluted all the participants and wished them good speed. The competition united five teams formed of the employees from Subdivisions Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (Barabinsk TPP). Each team had to go through four different rounds: fire reporting by telephone “01”, a two-meter fence obstacle course, laying of a hose line, and on-the-scene fire extinction with the use of a fire extinguisher.

The best score of 1 min. 32 sec. was made by the team of Subdivision No. 6 (Barabinsk TPP), which, as a result, became the winner. The team of Subdivision No. 3 (TPP-3) was second best with the result of 1 min. 35 sec. The team of Subdivision No. 4 (TPP-4) was ranked third, having finished the competition with the result of 1 min. 42 sec. The prizewinners of the event were awarded valuable gifts.

On August 29, the Fuel branch team will take part in a company-wide competition in firefighting-applied sports among the teams of Novosibirskenergo’s Generation branch.
