OREANDA-NEWS. August 14, 2007. Tomsk, On August 12, 2007 at 03.45 (local time) during the start-up of a polyethylene production line after the maintenance shutdown the loss of containment of external line element with the resulting shot and fire has occurred at Tomskneftekhim plant.

The fire was put out immediately. However as the result three employees being in close vicinity to the accident center were injured. One of them was killed and another two were hospitalized.

Company’s board commiserate with the family of the killed man.  The injured and their families will be given all the necessary support and assistance.

No harm to environment was documented. The second technological line for polyethylene production is operational.

 The executive commission for the investigation, determination of accident causes and assessment of actual damage was created. SIBUR experts have flown out to Tomsk to take part in it.
