OREANDA-NEWS. August 8, 2007. Vladimir Putin, president of the Russian Federation, signed a decree on conducting celebrations to mark the 170th anniversary of the beginning of rail transport in Russia.

The president has commissioned the Russian Government to form an organizational committee and the Russian regions have been recommended to prepare and take part in the celebration.

Russian Railways has already begun working on the events to mark the event.
