OREANDA-NEWS. JSC SITRONICS has established a new company SITRONICS - Nanotechnologies. The new company will be a part of SITRONICS Microelectronic Solutions’ business development and its primary function is development of nanotechnologies in the area of semiconductors, reported the press-centre of SITRONICS.

SITRONICS Microelectronic Solutions today introduces the technology on production of microelectronics with layout size 0.18 micron. The company has organized training for over 100 specialists at the leading global facilities. SITRONICS has been actively involved in R&D work, including in the framework of Federal Target Program “National Nanotechnology Basis”.

“Development of microelectronic technologies is in constant progress, says Gennady Krasnikov, Head of SITRONICS Microelectronic Solutions. - As we reach the level 0.18 micron, we are becoming the technology leaders in Russia. And this is only the start. In order to reach competitive positions at the global market, Russia needs the most advanced and original developments. Therefore, we set up the entity which will be engaged in research and development of nanotechnologies for Microelectronics”.

Nanotechnology is the area of science and technology, which studies the properties and interaction of individual atoms and molecules, as well as the methods of creation of the materials with pre-set parameters at atomic level. Reduction of layout size of integrated circuit to nanosizes, i.e., less than 0,1 micron, or 100 nm, will allow to expand the productive capacity, reduce power consumption, as well as the production cost of microcircuit chips. This will lead to substantial enhancement of capabilities of modern digital devices, reduction of their sizes, growth of power capacity, accessibility and popularity. Reduction of the surface of integrated circuit by 2 times provides gaining in the cost by 1,6-1,8 times. At present the most advanced computers are based on 45-65 nm production technology.
