OREANDA-NEWS. The Belarusian Government has lifted the requirement for white cane sugar to be imported through temporary storage warehouses, reported the Official website government.by.

The step is stipulated by the Council of Ministers’ resolution No. 964 of July 27, 2007.

The measure is applicable to white sugar made of raw cane sugar, which originates from the countries Belarus has annulled customs control and customs clearance for, or to white sugar re-imported from these countries. The facilitated import procedure is applicable to imports from Russia. According to the source, temporary storage warehouses used to be chosen by the State Customs Committee and the Trade Ministry of Belarus.

The document reads, cane sugar can be imported using special licences issued by the Trade Ministry. Licences cost an equivalent of $340 per one tonne. Before the resolution was adopted, the licences cost 60 basic amounts per tonne.

National state administration agencies are to bring their regulatory legal acts into compliance with the resolution. The resolution comes into force on the publication date.

In line with the Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental agreement signed in Minsk on March 23, Belarus undertook to cancel the requirement for imports from the Russian Federation to pass through temporary storage warehouses by April 1, 2007. The procedure is mutual for excisable goods subject to labelling with excise stamps. The Belarusian Government has already lifted the requirement for tobacco goods to be imported through temporary storage warehouses as well as the same requirement for fish, sea food and processed sea food.
