OREANDA-NEWS. August 6, 2007. According to the plan of action of the Chief Department of the Emergency Ministry for Smolensk region, from July 30 till Aug 10 2007 the Fire Security Department of Smolensk NPP is carrying out fire security measures at the plant.

The experts of the department are checking up the fire security systems of the plant’s spent nuclear fuel storage facility, boiler, carbon dioxide charging station.

Fire security is one of the key factors of the safety of every NPP and Smolensk NPP gives it special attention.

Young nuclear power engineers will take part in the inter-regional Memory Watch

On Aug 28 2007 a group of young specialists Rosenergoatom will go on an inter-regional Memory Watch in Kostyri, Roslavl district, Smolensk region.

The key goal of the event is to find and identify the reburied remains of the Soviet soldiers killed in the territory of Roslavl district during WWII with a view to perpetuate their names.

The organizers of the search are Rosenergoatom, Smolensk NPP, Culture, Sports and Youth Committee of Desnogorsk. The deputy director of Smolensk NPP Anatoly Terletsky has been elected as the chairman of the Organizational Committee.
