KAMAZ Inc. and ZF Friedrichshafen Start Industrial Assembly Regime
OREANDA-NEWS. August 3, 2007. Since July the joint enterprise of KAMAZ Inc. and the German company ZF Friedrichshafen producing gearboxes - “ZF KAMA” - went into industrial assembly regime.
“ZF KAMA” and the RF Ministry of Economic Development signed an investment agreement on industrial components assembly. The director of the planning and coordination department of the development unit of KAMAZ Inc. Aleksandr Kalmykov specified that the joint enterprise must fulfill two terms of the settlement: to achieve rated volumes during 36 months and to localize production by 40%. In last October capacities of the joint enterprise made up 5 thousand gearboxes a year. This year the joint enterprise plans to produce 8 thousand gearboxes. Localization of production will be finished till the end of this year. Component parts for gearboxes will be produced on the import equipment which is currently being mounted.
The agreement with the Ministry of Economic Development concerns only one type of gearboxes mastered by the joint enterprise. ”ZF KAMA” plans to produce 4 types of gearboxes more in the industrial assembly regime for packaging arrangement of trucks equipped with engines Euro-2, Euro-3 and of higher standards. At the same time the joint enterprise will broaden its facilities. By 2012 the investments in the project “ZF KAMA” will have grown up to 150 million Euro, working areas will have been broadened from 4 thousand square meters to 30 thousand square meters. By this time the joint enterprise plans to launch 87 thousand gearboxes (in 2006 there were produced 3 thousand gearboxes), the gain of the enterprise will make up 260 million Euro (in 2006 – 13 million Euro).
