The Meeting of the EurAsEC Council Was Held
OREANDA-NEWS. August 2, 2007. The first meeting of the Council of the EuroAsian Economic Community on cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy took place at Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine (Angarsk, Irkutsk region).
Representatives of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan as well as EurAsEC Secretary General Grigory Rapota took part in the meeting.
The deputy head of the Federal Agency for Nuclear Energy of Russia Nikolay Spassky was elected as chairman of the Council, while the chairman of the Committee on Nuclear Energy of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry of Kazakhstan as his deputy.
The Council also adopted their regulations and plan of action in 2007–2008, considered proposals on how to improve cooperation in fields of mutual concern, particularly, in training personnel for civil nuclear power industry, heard report on the establishment of International Center for Uranium Enrichment, coordinated the agenda of their next meeting in Jan-Feb 2008. After the meeting the conferees visited Angarsk Electrolytic Chemical Combine.
EurAsEC is an international economic organization established by six states: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
