OREANDA-NEWS. On July 27, 2007 National Company “Uzbektourism” celebrated it’s 15th anniversary, reported the press-centre of “Uzbektourism”.

It is predetermined by history itself that Uzbekistan located at the crossroad of nodal routs connecting West with East, south with north. Uzbekistan, possessing the unique monuments of history and culture, museums and beautiful natural reserves, attracts more and more number of professionals of tourist industry, which in their turn contribute to increase of tourist flow to our country.

Currently the National Company "Uzbektourism" presents tourism in the country. Company is established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan On establishment of the National Company "Uzbektourism" (# UP-447 of July 27, 1992).

During the period of Company's existence, due to its efforts, fundamental institutional and qualitative changes in the field of tourism have been implemented. Market economy elements are widely introduced and government enterprises in tourism area are transformed into joint stock, collective, private, rental or joint venture type resulting in formation of competitive Uzbek tourist product.

Nowadays National Company “Uzbektourism” has regional branch offices in Bukhara, Khorezm and Samarkand, and besides, there are many travel bureaus in all other regions of Uzbekistan.

Simultaneously with the regional branch offices and bureaus there are international offices in following countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Russia and Egypt. The international offices are promoting the great tourism potential of the Republic of Uzbekistan and participate on behalf of National Company “Uzbektourism” in tourism exhibitions and fairs organized in their countries, with the purpose of attracting and increasing the numbers of tourists to Uzbekistan. All international offices are making their own valuable contributions to the export of tourist services. 

President and Government of the county pay special attention to the tourism development. Constant attention is paid by the country's leadership and President to establish and develop single tourism industry, which is already producing significant results, attracts more and more number of businessmen and public persons of the international tourist business.

In order to promote the expansion and strengthening of international contacts and the integration in international market, popularization of cultural-historic and intellectual heritage of Uzbekistan in the global community, and also in order to lead the quality level of service up to world standards, on April 15, 1999 was issued Presidential Decree On government program of tourism development for the period till 2005. All above witnesses of special attention of the government to the area and that it is necessary to develop the international standards of tourism in our country at higher pace.

The above Decree provides new impulse for the development of tourist industry and its role is enormous. Special role in the Decree plays training of personnel for tourism, establishment of modern tourist industry and also support though privileges of small and medium size business in tourist area.

Upon election of Uzbekistan as member of WTO, National Company "Uzbektourism" is in close contact with international tourist organizations, especially WTO, in order to rise the image overseas and conduct of wide advertisement of the country's tourist potential in countries of Europe and Asia, and also activate the entrance of young independent Uzbekistan into the global community. NC "Uzbektourism" together with World tourist organization at support of UN Development Program have designed the activities plan on stable development of tourism in Uzbekistan for the coming years, conducted market researches, studied the infrastructure and situation of training in this area, conducted in the country and overseas the practical training for some of our management members.

Number of tourist visiting our country annually is increasing, and one can say for sure that Uzbekistan can become the important destination of tourist business in future. In order to promote the Uzbek tourist product overseas, NC "Uzbektourism" pays special attention to development of contacts with international partners in the area of tourism and annually participates at the largest tourist fairs.
