OREANDA-NEWS. On July 24, 2007 the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, held a meeting focused on construction projects in Minsk, specifically those on the territory of the Minsk-1 Airport and the area adjacent to the National Library, and their funding sources, reported the Presidential website www.president.gov.by.

These issues had been discussed in May when the President visited the Minsk City Hall. There he had given directions to detail the design and pick out investors.

The Russian company Itera Invest Holding offered its involvement as a potential investor. The construction project it proposed has already been approved by the Minsk municipal authorities. Today, this project has been submitted to the President for consideration.

The area currently occupied by the Minsk-1 Airport and the Minsk Aircraft Repair Plant is to be allotted for the building of a residential area and an administrative, business and public centre Minsk-City.
