OREANDA-NEWS. On July 21, 2007 stoppage of the 1st unit of Balakovo NPP marked the beginning of this year’s maintenance campaign at the plant. The repairs of the 1st unit will last for 45 days, reported the press-centre of Balakovo NPP.

The campaign will be carried out in line with the Schedule for the Repairs of the Units of the Russian NPPs in 2007. According to this schedule, Aug 31-Nov 8 Balakovo NPP will overhaul its 2nd unit and Nov 12-Dec 26 will repair its 4th unit.

During the repairs the 1st unit will be reequipped and modernized: the reheating system of the turbine K-1000 will be equipped with a preliminary separation unit, the oil coolers of the turbine K-1000 will be replaced, the generator shaft will be sealed.

Special attention will be given to the preparations for the OSART mission – the visit of IAEA experts to Balakovo NPP in 2008.
