New Plant of Latvian Construction Materials of Sakret Ltd
OREANDA-NEWS. On July 13, 2007 Aigars Kalvitis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, met his Estonian counterpart Andrus Ansip and opened the new production plant of the Latvian construction materials company Sakret Ltd. in Paide, Estonia, reported the Official website www.mk.gov.lv.
Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis participated in a working lunch with Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip and discussed various topical issues of the Baltic States and the European Union (EU). The Prime Ministers also addressed energy issues related to the meeting of the Prime Ministers of the Baltic States in Vilnius last week and to further process of Ignalina nuclear power plant construction.
Both Prime Ministers exchanges views on topical issues of the EU by paying special attention to quotas for emission of carbon dioxide and to national plans of the Member States on use of renewable energy resources in line with the plans approved by the EU in March this year.
During this visit Aigars Kalvitis participated in the opening ceremony of the new production plant of the Latvian construction materials company Sakret Ltd. in Paide which is the first Latvian investment in the Estonian production sector in the amount of almost 4 million lats.
The Latvian Prime Minister wished Sakret Ltd. to achieve a high rate of development and successful implementation of its business plan. The Prime Minister also expressed his hope that this opening of a new production plant in Estonia will imply a wider market not just in the Baltics but in Scandinavia and the CIS countries, as well, and urged to set new objectives and to think about new investment projects.
Aigars Kalvitis urged other Latvian companies to follow the example of Sakret Ltd. and to plan investments in Estonia, Lithuania, Scandinavia and other EU countries. He noted that “investment outside Latvia shows our capacity to compete on the global market where Latvia, Latvian businesses and Latvian brand surely has their own place.
