Desnogorsk Schoolchildren among Winners of International Contest
OREANDA-NEWS. July 26, 2007. 7th International Contest of Children’s Art “We Are Children of Atom City” finished at Leningrad NPP (Sosnovy Bor).
A total of 913 children from all the 10 Russian atom-cities (satellite cities of NPPs) and 15 towns of Russia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Finland and Lithuania have taken part in the contest. 34 of them have been proclaimed winners, 29 have got special awards. The awarding ceremony took place at Sosnovy Bor Museum of Modern Art on July 21. Representatives of Leningrad NPP, Sosnovy Bor Municipality, Rosenergoatom Concern and the Museum Agency of Leningrad region came to praise and award the winners.
The satellite city of Smolensk NPP, Desnogorsk, took part in the contest for the second time. In 2005 it had 13 participants with two winners – Yulia Kandrashova and Polina Prokofieva – this year as many as 45 participants: 31 drawings by pupils of Desnogorsk Arts School, 12 works by Desnogorsk House of Children’s Art and 2 multimedia projects by a group of school-leavers. Inga Tsatsa from Arts School won the nomination “The City of My Dream,” pupils of School N2 Alexander Merkulov and Filipp Gumenov got a special award for their multimedia project “Peaceful Atom.”
The same day 24 best works were exhibited at the Sosnovy Bor Museum of Modern Art. 10 of them were by children from Desnogorsk!
After the awarding ceremony the laureates met with interesting people and were taken on a tour of St.Petersburg and Tsarskoye Selo. They also attended master classes by professional artists, craftsmen and journalists.
One of the laureates Inga Tsatsa from Desnogorsk said that such events are a good opportunity to meet with peers from other cities and countries, to make friends and to learn lots of interesting things.
