OREANDA-NEWS. July 21 was the holyday of the Icon of Our Lady of Kazan. Every year on July 21 the cathedrals of Desnogorsk, the satellite city of Smolensk NPP hold liturgies in honor of Our Lady.

This year believers from Desnogorsk and nearby villages as well as pilgrims from all over Smolesnk region came to the spring of Our Daly near the village of Saveyevo, Roslavl district to praise Our Lady of Kazan.

The spring is protected by the employees of the thermal and underground communications department of Smolensk NPP.

Young nuclear power engineers from Smolensk NPP are taking part in 7th international festival Desnay-2007

A team of the Youth Organization of Smolensk NPP is participating in the 7th international festival of young nuclear power engineers “Desnay-2007,” which is taking place at Leningrad NPP (Sosnovy Bor, Leningrad region) from July 21 till July 28 2007.

They are contending with their counterparts from all 10 Russian NPPs, Ignalina NPP (Lithuania), Chernobyl NPP, Energoatom company (Ukraine) as well as with a team of veterans of the Desnay Movement.

Each day of the festival has its own “topic du jour”: contests, role-playing games, sports events, scientific conference, “School of Leaders,” meeting of representatives of the youth organizations of the participant NPPs, meetings with LNPP managers and municipal and regional officials.

Such meetings are an excellent opportunity for youths from different NPPs to exchange experience and to coordinate efforts for solving common problems.
