OREANDA-NEWS. During the conference of members of the Maritime Board under the government of Russia, RF Minister of transport Igor Levitin announced that the Ministry plans to start a feasibility study to ground investments in the construction of a new deep-sea port in Kaliningrad on the Vostochy peninsula.
 
He noted that the new port will allow to move cargo handling from Kaliningrad and will be able to handle vessels with a large deadweight.
 
Also, the possibility of the construction of a railway to connect all the Russian ports in the Baltic Sea is being investigated. This railway might be constructed within the program of Baltic ports development.
