North West Telecom Will Provide Telecommunication Services in Murmansk
OREANDA-NEWS. July 10, 2007. The OJSC NWT starts providing universal telecommunication services via the payphones in the Murmansk Region. The first 14 universal service payphones have been installed in Murmansk and the ten district towns of the region.
In accordance with the tender for universal telecommunication service payphones, won by the OJSC NWT in January 2007 ( press release of 2 February 2007 ), in 2007-2008 the OJSC NWT is going to install 166 universal service payphones in 135 localities of the Murmansk Region.
The payphones are to be installed in such remote places as Mayak Tersko-Orlovsky, Mayak Gorodetsky, Mayak Pikshuev, Mayak Nikodimskiy, Tsypnavolok, Vaida-Guba, Kashkarantsy, Olenitsa, Lumbovka, Svyatoy Nos, Mys Cherniy, which are located along the shoreline of the Barents and White Sea and have no transport infrastructure or permanent power supply.
A distinctive feature of the universal service payphone is that it can be used not only for making calls, but also to receive a free incoming call. Each payphone is assigned a particular telephone number, displayed on the instructions plate inside the phone box.
The service is accessed with the universal telecommunication service card, which costs 100 or 50 roubles and can be purchased at an OJSC NWT customer centre or a post office.
Universal service payphone tariff in the Murmansk Region will be 0.51 roubles per minute for a local call and 2.50 roubles for an intrazone call (within the Murmansk Region). Long distance and international calls will be charged under the tariffs of long distance communication providers.
