OREANDA-NEWS. July 9, 2007. Baltika Breweries spent RUR 9 mln on reconstruction of the surgery facility in Turner Research Institute.

A new surgery facility will open today at Turner Research Institute of Pediatric Orthopedics on the Institute’s 75th anniversary. The larger part of reconstruction costs was covered by Baltika.

Baltika Breweries and Turner Institute have been working on joint projects for 4 years. In the end of 2006 it was decided to dedicate RUR 9 mln to repair of the surgery facility. Thanks to the help provided by Baltika, now the Institute has a new fully-equipped Department of Spine Pathology.

Baltika Breweries focuses on social programs within the National Health State Project, among other health care programs, and this direction of work is top priority for Baltika. In addition to reconstructing the surgery facility at Turner Research Institute, the company will spend USD 1 mln on repairing and acquiring new medical equipment for Children’s Outpatient Clinic No. 63 in Vyborgsky District and Boarding House No. 5 in Pushkin. Other non-profit organizations receiving help from the Company include House of Hope on the Hill for alcoholism rehabilitation in Leningrad Region. In 2006 the Company invested over RUR 100 mln into socially significant projects.

Over the last ten years Baltika has invariably been one of top taxpayers, one of the largest taxpayer in St. Petersburg and other regions where the Company’s branches are located. In these districts the Company pays significant tax revenues. In 2006 alone the company paid over RUR 16 bln in taxes to budgets of all levels and non-budgetary funds.

In April 2007 Baltika won the Best St. Petersburg Taxpayer award for the third time. In 2004-2006 the Company won Amber Stars, the most prestigious brewing industry award, for Social Responsibility in Business and Successful Business Reputation Strategy.
