Finnish Companies Fortum and STUK Conducted Quality Audit at Elemash
OREANDA-NEWS. On June 18-21, 2007 representatives of Finnish companies Fortum and STUK visited Mashinostoitelny Zavod (Elemash) with a view to see how the plant is making the fuel assemblies that will be supplied to the Finnish Loviisa NPP this year, reported the press-centre of TVEL.
The Finnish experts inspected the whole production process and documentation, particularly, the production of powder, pellets and assemblies.
They showed high interest in the new automated line for the production of fuel elements for WWER-440. This line is based on a pallet feed technology and has been designed and produced by Elemash (from components produced abroad).
The Finnish inspectors were satisfied. Their findings say that they have detected no deviations from the contract.
As a result of TVEL’s victory in a tender for the supply of fuel to Loviisa NPP till 2030, Elemash has been set to produce fuel assemblies for the plant’s WWER-440 reactor.
