Russian Railways to Sell 22 Coach-Repair Enterprises by End-2007
OREANDA-NEWS. July 05, 2007. In accordance with a resolution of the Company’s Board of Directors, Russian Railways will sell 22 coach-repair enterprises by the end of 2007, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.
The Board’s decision will be realised as part of the reform of coach repairs at the Company.
The development of competition in the sector is one of the tasks in reforming Russia’s railways and will ensure the repair and of freight rolling stock. The reform plan for coach repairs provides that up to 30% of the Company’s capacity in depot repair of freight rail wagons will be sold on the market.
The Company has developed a plan and schedule to prepare the sale of property belonging to the coach repair enterprises. The schedule lays down the expected dates when the Russian government will give its agreement to the sale and the proposed selling dates.
