OREANDA-NEWS. July 5, 2007. Almost two year ago the ore mining and processing enterprise "Ukrmekhanobr" joined to Ilyich Iron & Steel Works and became its structural subdivision. During this short period of time the life of the Enterprise changed, and the miners say that ore mining and processing enterprise "Ukrmechanobr" got a second wind, and its workers got the confidence in their future.

The ore mining and processing enterprise "Ukrmechanobr" is situated in the very center of city of Kryvoy Rog and it is called "a miniature copy of the large giant". "Ukrmechanobr" includes the open-cast mine "Severny", the grinding and concentrating mill, the mine transport shop and the railway shop. A few years ago the open-cast mine was almost bankrupt, but millions of tons of unextracted ore were just underfoot. Today, due to efforts of Ilyich Iron & Steel Works, the exhausted metalliferous deposit is under development and new Belaz trucks carry tons of iron ore, and the balance resources of the iron ore in the deposit is enough for at least ten years of operation.

The Director of the ore mining and processing enterprise "Ukrmechanobr" Mr. Igor Botantsev said that during this very short time the Enterprise had doubled its production figures, and its dynamics is very promising. He also said that Ilyich Iron & Steel Works invests considerable amounts of money in the ore mining and processing enterprise for modernization of the equipment, overhauling; but the prime task is the social guarantees for the employees, the number of employees at the open-cast mine "Severny" increased from 120 to 520 workers. Miners from Kryvoy Rog, as well as all the other employees of Ilyich Iron & Steel Works, spend their vacations and holidays at Di-Danil Sanatorium, benefit from the non-interest loans for buying of apartments and cars, the retired get subsidies every quarter, and all the employees are covered with medical insurance. Good working standards and vast opportunities for realization of the intended plans – these are a good beginning for a successful future, and in the nearest time "Ukrmechanobr" will increase both quality and quantity of the production intended for steel-makers.
