OREANDA-NEWS. July 2, 2007. At the stockholders’ meeting Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime-Minister of Tatarstan, and Seregey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc., revealed details about the project of tractor production in the KAMAZ area.

According to Rustam Minnikhanov, KAMAZ Inc. is an enterprise which is very important not only for Tatarstan, but also for the Russian Federation and which should contribute to the machine building development. Domestic tractor equipment doesn’t solve a customer’s query.

- Our agriculture needs a tractor which can work with far-reaching multifunctional aggregates, - noted the Tatarstan Premier.

The issue of tractor production in KAMAZ Inc. arose long ago. In 2002 there was developed the tractor KT-240 K on the basis of KAMAZ units. Later KAMAZ Inc. announced a competition searching a partner in tractor production. Such a partner was found. The company will be able to produce modern tractors of average power on the basis of KAMAZ, with a high level of production localization.

The Tatarstan Prime-Minister is of the opinion that the tractor project leads to further diversification of KAMAZ production. There will be a new competitive product necessary not only for Tatarstan, but also for the whole Russia. The CIS countries, especially Kazakhstan, are interested in the project as well.

Sergey Kogoghin, Director General of KAMAZ Inc., announced a supposed production volume – 200 tractors this year, twice as much – next year. In 5 years production will work to capacity – 4000 units per year. The first lot of 200 tractors will be purchased by the Tatarstan farms.

The business plan of the project will soon be ready. According to Director General of KAMAZ Inc., investment volume will be 150 million rubles – not so much for such a project. But for KAMAZ Inc. it will be interesting because this is a rather good business segment. There will be set up engines of the joint production “CUMMINS KAMA” on the tractors.

There is nothing to worry about concerning competition with other producers of the analogous equipment. To date it’s very important to provide after sales service. KAMAZ Inc. has got the most developed service network on the territory of Russia and CIS where new tractors like all KAMAZ equipment will be provided with qualitative service, - emphasized Sergey Kogoghin in conclusion.
