OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2007.  OJSC RCUS opened in Tambov a new communal utility facility: a mechanical sludge dewatering plant. The following officials were present at the opening ceremony: Oleg Betin, Governor of the Tambov Region, Nikolai Stepanov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board - Executive Director of OJSC RCUS, representatives of the town administration, the management team of Tambov Communal Utility Systems, RCUS affiliate, journalists from foreign, federal, regional and industry-related mass media. 

During the construction of the new plant on the territory of the Tambov sewage waste treatment facilities one of the most significant factors was the ecological factor. The plant minimizes the risk of ecological disasters connected with the hazard of the accumulative sludge spilling into the Tsna River sleeve. The new facility will also allow enhancing the effectiveness of sewage water treatment and reducing operating costs. 

The technology used for the dewatering process enables the feed mixture with 98.5% humidity to be processed into dry, easily transportable sludge with 75-78% of humidity. A radical change in the processing technology will prevent the pumping of the sludge into storage basins. The project provides for the application of ecologically clean materials and a number of engineering works which will make the ecological situation in the Tsna River basin more stable.   

The construction of the new plant was launched by OJSC RCUS in July 2006. The total construction cost amounted to 42 million roubles. 

When addressing the journalists, Nikolai Stepanov, Executive Director of OJSC RCUS, noted, "Tambov Communal Utility Systems is one of the most efficiently operating RCUS affiliates. During the 4 years that RCUS has been operating in Tambov the company has already invested as much as 500 million roubles in the communal utility system of the town; the company is planning to develop its investment programme in future. RCUS has established good relations with the regional and town authorities of Tambov and it helps the company to solve many problems related to the modernization of the communal utility complex".
