OREANDA-NEWS. On June 16, 2007 delegation from French Industrial Company "Mecamidi" arrived in Makhachkala for a business visit. This company specializes in hydraulic turbines manufacture, projects design, construction and operation of hydropower stations. The delegation included Natalia Morin, development director for C.I.S. countries, and Piere Phlipo, director for engineering design, reported the press-centre of  JSC “Regional Power Generation Company of Dagestan”. 
 
French experts came to examine location sites of the projected hydropower stations, as well as to discuss the offers, estimates and engineering design for several projects of mini- and average-hydropower stations.
 
On June 17, 2007 a group of specialist from JSC “Regional Power Generation Company of Dagestan”, “Mecamidi”and “Energostroi Ltd.” visited Gergebil and Gunib hydropower stations; they also inspected dam locations of Tsudakhar HPS (Levashi region of Dagestan) and Magar HPS (Charoda region of Dagestan).
 
On the next the delegation took a trip to examine several dam locations in the south of Dagestan: Akhti HPS-2, Smugul HPS, Lalaan HPS, Magi HPS, Chai HPS and Suigut HPS. What has declared Pierre Flipo in the course of presentation trip: "In Dagestan big potential for construction small and average GES". After the trip to the mountains Piere Phlipo impressed by the capacity of the rivers said: “Dagestan has a great potential in mini- and average-hydropower stations construction.”

It was not the first time of French engineers in Dagestan; in November of the past year Jean Zekri, the head of “Mecamidi” company, visited Dagestan Republic and discussed perspective cooperation of our two companies in the field of mini- and average-hydropower stations’ design. As the result, JSC “Regional Power Generation Company of Daghestan”and “Mecamidi”The signed a memorandum of cooperation in the framework of utilization of hydropower resources of the Republic of Dagestan. In February of 2007 “Mecamidi” won the tender for carrying out design documentation and specifications for construction Tsakhur HPS on the Kazikumukh Koisu River and Rutul HPS on the Lalaan River.
 
This time in the framework of the visit after examination of the sites for the future dam locations several hydropower station construction projects will be presented to the power engineers of Dagestan.
