OREANDA-NEWS. On June 21, 2007 President Robert Kocharian received the CEO of the “Millennium Challenge Corporation”, Ambassador John Danilovich and his delegation, reported the Presidential website www.president.am.

The President of Armenia highlighted the importance of cooperation between the Government of Armenia and MCC, as well as of those programs, which are aimed at the deepening of the reforms in Armenia and addressing a number of important issues.

Noting that the deletion of the uneven development between the capital and the marzes of Armenia is a priority issue for the Government of Armenia, President Robert Kocharian said that with this regard the anticipation from the MCC programs is pretty high.

In his turn John Danilovich also expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation. He briefed the President of Armenia on the MCC’s upcoming projects, as well as on his discussions with the democratic majority of the US Congress regarding the continuance of the Corporation’s programs.

“In Armenia the reforms are implemented with confidence, and we view successful reformation as a basis for the future development of our country,” stressed Robert Kocharian. He also added that through the years the authorities have been working toward enrooting in our public the understanding of the fact that comprehensive and efficient reformation is the only way for the development of Armenia. According to the President the results of the parliamentary elections provide an opportunity to keep that course.

Speaking about the elections Ambassador Danilovich said that their results are very important for the Millennium Challenge Corporation. In his turn Robert Kocharian said that all the irregularities and violations were carefully investigated and members of some electoral commissions were penalized.
