OREANDA-NEWS. On June 19, 2007 as stated Edouard Dayan, Director General of Universal Postal Union at the press conference devoted to the opening of International Strategic Forum. He emphasized that Russia is one of the most active participants of Universal Postal Union and it influences on the Universal Postal Union’s role in implementing certain projects of postal services in the terms of trade globalization, reported the press-centre of  Russian Post.

Answering the questions of the mass media representatives Edouard Dayan also noted the importance of financial services in the work process of postal administrations. Currently, world money turnover sent by postal orders amounts about 300 bln USA dollars and world post should try hard to increase its share in this sector. Postal order service however is available not in all post offices in different countries. Sometimes tariff rates for postal orders are expensive. Due to this fact E. Dayan paid attention to the efforts of Russian Post within the framework of development of International Financial System. He added that application of new technologies in joint integrated system of postal orders is the joint goal.

Igor Syrtsov, Director General of FSUE Russian Post told of development and efficiency of new services rendered by Russian Post. He attracted attention to financial opportunities of postal network and fast development of electronic postal orders "CyberDengui". For several years the volume of money orders performed by Russian Post increased almost 10 times that proves customers’ interest to the given service and its further necessity. The number of sent postal orders amounted over 63 mln only for the period from January to April 2007. At the same time Igor Syrtsov denoted a number of unprofitable services, among them universal postal service, press delivery, delivery of pensions and allowances which are compensated by profitable activities of the enterprise.
