OREANDA-NEWS. Starting November 2007 immigration control procedures when entering Japan territory will change. The Ministry of Justice of Japan has amended the Immigration Control and Refugee Status Law in order to improve terrorism threat protection measures.

As the new Law becomes effective all foreign citizens entering Japan territory should pass through finger prints registration and face imaging procedures when through legal procedures in destination airports.

All the operations will be carried out by immigration control authorities using the hardware specially installed in the airports. At the same time, all the arriving passengers may be briefly interviewed. Those foreign citizens refused from passing the above procedures will not be allowed to enter the country.

The new procedures will not apply to children before 16 years old, persons having their permanent residence in Japan, those persons effecting the status of Japanese permanent residence, diplomats and foreign governmental authorities arriving to the country for official purposes.
